I have been spinning my head these past couple of weeks on how I can get better organized in this new year. I always start off good at the beginning of the year or at the beginning of a semester (since we home school). But it is hard to stick with it. I am turning to FlyLady to help me keep my house straight. I’m hoping it sticks all the way through the year
FlyLady provides baby steps to help you get started, so keeping a house clean isn’t too overwhelming. As I went through her 31 days of baby steps routine on paper, 3 of the steps really stood out to me. I thought you might like them too.
If you follow along, day 29 says to go to the Taking Care of You page where you’ll find a weekly pamper mission. Yes, please! Do take time to rest and recuperate from all your hard work. God rested after His great work of creation and so should we.
On day 28, FlyLady reminds us to eat good food, drink water and get enough sleep. Very well said, FlyLady. Those three things are major great for our health physically and emotionally. They can be good spiritually too if you take the time to slow down and meditate on God’s goodness and provision with a thankful heart.
I think day 11 is my favorite of the 3. On day 11, FlyLady asks for us to create an inspirational page. She encourages us to write down phrases that inspire us. I have wanted to put inspirational phrases and scripture verses up on a wall in my house…to have an inspirational wall. But honestly, I am not very crafty so I haven’t figured out how to do it yet. But just having a time where you sit down and get in God’s word or read things that are encouraging things based from God’s word is such a jewel worthy of our time.
If you want to get some scripture inspiration going but aren’t sure how, you are in the right place! I want to encourage any of you out there to join me TODAY over at Beth Moore’s Living Proof Ministries Blog. She has a group of girls, me included, that will be meeting on the 1st and 15th of every month of this year to post a Bible verse that we will commit to memory. You get to pick your own verse; one that is important to you where you are. That’s the best inspiration we can get. And it’s a great way to get the New Year started right…in God’s word!
Happy New Year! Remember to take some time to practice those three baby steps above. No matter whether or not you’ve got everything together, they are great additions to any schedule!
